The Kids Are (Mostly) Alright

I was so honored to spread the Forward Inheritance gospel at the 2026 VCIC Global Finals this week. I had yet to be on terra firma in the Tar Heel State (but Go Wolfpack for those reading at home, too!), and the experience did not disappoint. Lovely place, lovely humans, a lovely time!

The quality of the program and the quality of the execution cannot be overstated. Well done, PV and team! I was able to connect with a few fellow founders, venture capitalists who are actively investing, but most importantly, around one hundred ~30 year olds who are ambitious, whip smart, and want to hustle.

These MBAs give me hope. They are Curious. Innovative. Kind. Caring. Driven. The undergrad observers were great, too. The kids are alright. There is a puckishness that will play well over a long enough timeline. As one industry elder taught me on Friday, “This is an apprenticeship business…”

I started my presentation with a simple question: Who here knows where your or your parent’s will is? Less than 5 of ~100 hands went up. That’s simply unacceptable when $85T of inheritance is at stake. Our family wealth and our family legacy is at stake.

Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa, won at the Game of Life. Congrats! But how are we preparing for the inevitable? How are we helping create a legacy that endures for generations? How can we help ensure that the next generation has a better life than was given to us? How can we move our families forward
